Does this multivitamin / mineral contain any synthetics in it?!

Question: Does this multivitamin / mineral contain any synthetics in it?

I'm trying to look for a daily multi without synthetic ingredients. If you have a chart or something so you know of which vitamin is synthetic, please share.

Garret,
Listen to Leanne. Tink and Psychobe.. have no idea what they're talking about. For example, see the link to Natual Vit E vs Synthetic Vit E research. There's been research done between synthetic and natual vitamins. Sometimes it doesn't make a difference. Often it does.
I have used these vitamins for many years and they're very good. Puritan has a good reputation for the quality of their products.
BTW. I do not work for puritan or any vitamin company. I just spend a lot of time reading the research material.

Hi Garret,

Reading the ingredients panel, the mix looks fine to me.

My initial query was the vit C - since ascorbic acid is often synthesised, and they haven't specified the source of the vit C - however, natural vitamin C occurs in conjunction with bioflavonoids, and bioflavonoids (Rutin, Quercitin) are listed further down the label - so that is an indicator that it's natural vit C (not definitive, though, without the vit C source being specified)

The vit E is non-synthetic - you can tell this because it is 'd-alpha-tocopherol' (synthetic vit E would be a mix of the 'd' & the 'l' form - i.e. 'dl-alpha-tocopherol'

The vit A is non-synthetic - beta carotene comes from plants

The B-vit's could be either - no way to tell on the face of it.

Overall, however, when you read the 'more info' section, they make the statement that the mix is
"completely vegetarian from natural food concentrates"
So, unless they are inviting serious litigation, I can't see a reason to include that claim unless it's true.

My overall assessment is that it appears to be all 'non-synthetic'

Practically everything in that list on the right is synthetic. If anyone tells you that they are selling an "organic" or "natural" vitamin, be very, very leery.

Synthetic molecules are 100% identical to their "all natural" counterparts.

Anybody who tells you differently is uneducated and/or trying to sell you something.
