Question: Pepto bismol-is it any good?

i have had ibs for several years now and have been recommended pepto bismol to control it.does has anybody used it for this and is it any good and when do you take it-ie before a meal or when the symptoms begin?thanks

It does work at halting diarrhea. However, I would not use this as part of a maintenance for controlling IBS. Bowel issues, IBS, Crohns, etc, can be caused by food sensitivities and poor diet. I've had similar issues and have cleared the problem up by taking out the specific food allergies. Most common of those foods are wheat/gluten containing foods and dairy. Not easy but it does help a lot.

My suggestion would be to see a naturopath who specializes in nutrition. They can work with you in finding what your sensitivities are
