Will weight gain be a side effect of prozac?!

Question: Will weight gain be a side effect of prozac?
i've been diagnosed with OCD and was prescribed to prozac, Im 14 years old and is at a normal weight. But my OCD is thinking ppl r calling me fat all the time when they don't, but the pharmacy papers don't say weight gain is a side effect, and that loss of appitite is, but online ppl say weight gain is the most common side effect...so can someone tell wether it is or isn't?

Answers:

i looked up prozac(fluoxetine is the generic name. in my book about pills.. it says @ 9 percent of people experience appetite loss, while 13 percent lose more than 5 percent of their body weight.it also says weight gain should not be expected while taking prozac. i hope this helped you some. good luck

I've heard it does. Anti-depressants in general have the tendency to make you gain weight. I'm sure you can ask your doctor how to keep from gaining that weight though; I think it messes with your metabolism, so I'm sure you'll end up having to adjust how much and what you eat :[
