like baking soda or something? its really late and no stores are open. my baby's butt is bleeding in a few spots because of his rash.

Baking soda is alkaline - last thing you want to put on a baby - it would irritate the daylights out of it! Baby skin is not like adult skin only softer, skin changes very much in puberty.
You can use corn startch instead of baby powder - but for your babies rash I would suggest washing with warm water, very diluted liquid wash, and an ointment or salve.
You need to wash the area (carefully), and leave it to air dry and apply Desitin. Moisture and heat are rashes friends.
