Why do people start questions as follows:?!

Question: Why do people start questions as follows:?
"Has anyone ever <insert favourite fetish here>"

There seems to be an inordinate number of alt medders who seem to think they are unique and are the only ones who have ever come across the latest fad.

The only answer can be "yes, many have tried and many have been disappointed"

Questions:
Why do they do this?
Is there something in the alt med mentality that is deficient in some way they need to ask banal questions?

Answers:

They do this because 1) they are very young 2) they are under-educated or 3) because they
are bored and looking for someway to interact with somebody else. I am often amazed, too.

Usually gradiosity seeking conflation (An "atta boy" [or girl] from someone who would enjoy, and (and thus, envy) the object/verb of the question.

I realized a long time ago that if there was a name for something, that it's probably been done for a while - after the initial blow to my ego wore off I realized "hey, that means there are other people who obviously speak the same lingo....."

Which reminds me - there is a matter of paint and paste I need to attend to....

Probably because they personally dont know anyone who has.

In addition, the question usually does NOT literally mean, has anyone else done it. The question usually means, if anyone reading this has done it, would you comment?

At least it's slightly more involved than the usual questions about how to beat piss tests, how many pills does it take to get high, how to lose weight without trying, etc.

They probably just want to share their experience with other people. I'd compare it to when you see a movie you really hated or loved - it's essential other people know your thoughts on it.

Well if they are silly enough to ask for anecdotes on YA rather then do their own research for clinical trials or objective data, the question is always going to be just as silly.

No, it is often that just googling takes some effort, they want you to google for them.

A lot of ignorant questions about. But a whole lot of ignorant answers as well.
They and we are humans, so let's feel fre to ask, and it must be, in my opinion, up to one self to maintain ones standards and pick in the pile of our liking along with the ones in the neighbour pile.

There is a lot of people out here that is young and a lot of bad spellers. Let them be themselves. This is not the right forum for condemnation or anger. Be happy. Be yourself.

Why use your energy on this? Kick some ******* in your surroundings instead if you must.

And a good and sunny day to you

actually, the reason is both simple and obvious. they have learned, as evidenced by all the endless drug-related legal actions, that all they can count on from the medical pharma establishment is lies and half-truths, so they're left to try things for themselves or ask others who don't stand to turn a buck off their opinions.
