Best book for a beginner on homeopathy?!

Question: Best book for a beginner on homeopathy?
Hi there,
Was wondering who can help me out with this please. I'm an avid reader & just recently I've had a keen interest in homeopathy. I know next to nothing in this area but have a few friends who swear by it. They are all to busy & not book people so I thought I'd ask here for advice. There are 4 main health issues I'd like to look into regarding homeopathic solutions:

Stress/Bipolar/Anxiety

Diet aid/ Weight loss/ Appetite suppressant/ Natural antacids

Insomnia/ Natural sleeping aids

Aromatherapy/Light therapy

I'm looking for a book (s) for a *beginner* that would be the best with effective treatments. Even if you know of one stellar book please really help me out & let me know. Even if I can just get one subject & one book at a time I'd be happy.

Of course I'll chose best answer, thanks for your time take care

This method of persuading people that simple water is the reason why they feel better (and not the fact that they've just got better on their own) has been thoroughly dis-proven.

Yes, people are still being conned out of their cash but hopefully you're a bit brighter than that?

Homopathy doesn't work.

I've long considered writing a book entitled "Actual Cures 'Kevin Trudeau' Doesn't Want You to Know About". It would go a great way to dispel the multitude of myths associated with the alternative(s to) medicine cacophony, while explaining stuff that *does* in a novice-friendly manner.

If you want the best and effective treatments, steer clear of homeopathy.
It's nothing but sugar - don't drink the kool-aid.

Sit a high school chemistry class- seriously. You'll see why it cannot work.

Wow, I think we have a winner! Homeopathy comes into first place for trolling!

Please don't let trolls spending their lives trying to get to "Top" status ruin your experiences... Homeopathy is great! Speaking as someone who loves chemistry and physics (they were my major/minor in school, and the reason I chose them was for my love of energy medicine), I can also predict that someday these crazy people will get their proof (hey, look at Reiki! It still can't be "proven", but it's now becoming popular in hospitals because of its positive effect on healing!). Someday, some modern physicist with both a brilliant mind and imagination will come up with ways to measure and prove energetics... which will then lead him to shame from his colleagues until another brilliant mind picks ups his studies again and confirms his findings, and the cycle begins again. Most of these people looking for "proof" are people who would have had the same reaction to pretty much any new idea, invention, whatever over time that we now consider facts. It's good to question things, but it's another thing be trolly or just spout out against things that a person knows nothing about.

Ok, mini back-rant over, and books!

I have this one book... Miranda Casto's Complete Homeopathy Handbook... I have an edition from '96, but there's probably an updated one. Obviously, no one book can really be complete, but it's a great beginner's book! There's a little information about everything... It's a great book to start with. Also check out the link page on this website:

They are connected to the school I went to for my first year of homeopathy (I never finished because I had to move back home to the States). If you want information about homeopathy in general, my suggestion is that you look up places from Ireland and England... it's more widely accepted there, which I think leads to more real information and less just reiteration of what people read in random books.

You also mentioned aromatherapy... you can't really use homeopathy and aromatherapy together because strong smells can affect how homeopathy works. But, a good beginner aromatherapy book is The Complete Book... (I forget the whole title) by Valerie Ann Worwood, and also her book The Fragrant Mind (which is more for emotional healing). Both are like the homeopathy book - a little information about a lot of things.

Good luck and have fun experimenting and learning!

Well, once you look into it you'll see that homeopathy is absurd nonsense, based on superstitious beliefs - like the more you dilute something, the more potent it becomes. And homeopathic dilutions are preposterously massive - for example, a typical homeopathic 30C potency means a dilution ratio of 10 to the power of 60, about equivalent to 1ml in 1,2 million cubic light years! It will not contain one single molecule of the original ingredient, so it cannot possibly have any physiological effect.

Remedies are selected based on your symptoms; homeopaths believe that ‘like cures like’, so if you have insomnia for example, homeopaths will often give you a remedy made from Coffea, which is made from the coffee bean but highly diluted. It seems they think this will recreate the symptoms thus empowering your body’s ‘vital force’ to expel disease. This concept lacks any scientific basis, supporting factual evidence or even coherent rationale.

Not surprisingly, homeopathy has no good evidence of efficacy. It has never been substantiated in rigorous studies to have an effect beyond placebo. In the UK, Government health system funding of homeopathy is being withdrawn as homeopathic clinics and hospitals are closing. The country's largest pharmacy retailer has admitted it doesn't work and scientists have called it witchcraft.

AVOID.

EDIT: @wunder, just you took chemistry and physics in high school it doesn't mean you understand them. Clearly you don't. You need to revisit avogadro's number and energy.
