Anxiety Medicine Question...?!

Question: Anxiety Medicine Question...?
Hello! I'm Angie (duh lol) and I'm 15 going on 16 in June.
I'm wondering about anxiety pills because I have a guitar recital coming up and I'm going to play 2 songs AND sing them.

I don't normally get nervous but when I played a piece of Marcus Carcassi for my teacher in the class room with just 4 people, my hands were uncontrollably shaking, they were sweating like I was in a sauna and my heart was beating really fast.

I've never in my life experienced such rush of eagerness. And the thing is, I wasn't much nervous but more ANXIOUS and eager to do the piece that I was overwhelmed while playing it.

So that's why I'm thinking about getting some anxiety medicine but I don't know what kinds are out there that would be best for my age (also the kinds that don't have any side affects). And no, I do not have anything like ADD or ADHD (I don't have any disorders).

Answers:

If you're only anxious when you're facing a guitar recital, that's not a case for medication. Anti-anxiety meds are for chronic anxiety, the kind where you can't do much of anything without getting horribly anxious. Situational anxiety is different.

For a quick do-it-yourself anxiety cure, you can try EFT tapping therapy. There are lots of videos online that explain exactly how to do it, usually in about ten to twenty minutes. Some people find Bach's Rescue Remedy helpful in situations like yours. It's a flower essence blend that eases anxiety quickly when you take a few drops and has no side effects. It's available in health food stores and some mainstream drugstores.

If you don't constantly feel anxious and you only feel anxious during things that are normal to feel anxious during like your guitar recital I wouldn't suggest taking anxiety medication. They have a number of common side effects and are they're often very addictive, if you forget to take them you'll quickly go through withdrawals. I understand that being anxious is terrible but this kind of anxiety is normal, you should get through it naturally.

I have anxiety disorder and I take medication.
