Should I take anti-depressants?!

Question: Should I take anti-depressants?
I've been diagnosed with depression and I've been suicidal, and have been offered medication by my doctor, but everyone tells me, after the highs, come massive lows that make you feel worse than to begin with and you get addicted to them, is this true? Or do they help in the long run?

Answers:

Some people can never get off anti depressants or it can take years to ween off. Black box warnings are on all antidepressants about side effects of suicidal thoughts and actions. Antidepressants are though to prevent serotonin from escaping however the method of action stated on anti depressants is listed as unknown. Clinical trials reveal taking antidepressants are no better than placebo. Natural serotonin supplements are a safe and effective way to raise serotonin levels in the brain without the side effects of anti depressants.
