Information about natural remedies/herbs?!

Question: Information about natural remedies/herbs?
Hi,
I am trying to find a suitable natural supplement for ibs-d and anxiety. I have browsed the internet but it just seems full of one-sided advice. The herb-fans saying it's all wonderful and the health professionals saying don't bother.. I would really like a website or a person that will advise based on facts. The best i've seen is either peppermint oil (which can cause vomiting.. I have emetophobia too, so won't touch anything with nausea as a side-effect really!) and st johns wort, but apparently that won't help with ibs.
I have been prescribed amitriptyline, but frankly, the side-effects don't look fun!

Any help?
Thanks :)

Unfortunately, in the quest to find an alternative where none exists, you'll be at risk of being exploited by all manner of snake oil salesman and barely-educated fruit loops. You sound intelligent enough to be asking for "..advise based on facts" so hopefully you'll realise that the health professionals know what they're talking about based on scientific evidence, while the only thing that herb-fans have to offer is amateur youtube clips and product-promoting websites.

If there was something that works you can be sure your doctor would have already recommended it.

What do you call alternative medicine that works? It's simply called 'medicine'.

As you research the herbs you want to grow in your herb garden you will learn about their flavors and perhaps even their medicinal uses. Many people use herbs as homeopathic remedies and maintain an herb garden for that reason. Other herbs can keep certain insects away and others are grown simply because they look great.

This video is about the importance of digestive enzymes. The lady in the video also had IBS and for 4 months took digestive enzyme supplements. After 4 months she was cured of IBS. She mentioned her IBS at 7:48 >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSkLR50Ce…

Herbs are useless. Go with the real medicine.

Get a juicer and make lots of green juices. Avoid dairy at all costs.

I was diagnosed ibs a number of years ago, finding that the prescribed medication made me hungry and therefore in danger of becoming overweight, I decided to do my own investigation, I suppose it was more a case of trial and error. I have now settled into a routine of daily malt and cod liver oil and a probiotic: health shop acidophilis pill or fruit yoghurt early morning; laxative, last thing at night. I have found Fruit & Fibre capsules suit me best, but other laxatives are equally effective, particularly syrup of figs. I also have a daily vitamin pill after my main meal and currently use a vitamin & minerals pill that includes Lutein, good for the eyes. Good luck. God bless. Gladgran.
