Should I have a bed-time?!


Question: Should I have a bed-time?
I'm 13, I usually stay up very late, 1-3 AM playing games,chatting with my friends on the computer, or I watch movies, I have a few hours of sleep, usually 6, I go to sleep at 2 AM and wake up at 8 AM fully rested, on school days I stay up late too, I'm not tired in the morning, I'm healthy, I have good grades and everything, should I have a bed-time or not? I also find myself mature somewhat for my age IRL.

well if you want to grow bigger and stronger then yes, 11 PM or 12 PM are good times. this sleep is especially important when you go through puberty... you grow in your sleep, especially *down there*. also about your maturity, guys are usually more mature BEFORE they go through puberty, during it theyre a riot. then once they grow out of those stages they become more mature.. but anyways 1-3AM is a bit too late for bed.



Some of us don't need so much sleep as others. I was brought up on a farm and could get up at 6.am even if I went to bed at 3am. You'd do better to be in bed by 1am on weekdays and 3am Saturday/Sunday morning. Remember one of the functions of having a relaxing sleep is that your brain gets to figure things out automatically and in your teen years there is quite a lot of rewiring going on. Those that hibernate until the afternoon lose so much of the day that they're only really half alive.



I would say that if you are not tired in the morning and you don't feel the need for more sleep I think you are okay but I think it may be a good idea to have a schedule so that your body can get into a natural flow.



People are generally either 'early risers' or 'night owls'. As long as you continue to listen to your body and see that you are doing fine (like not feeling tired, have good grades, etc) do what feels right. There is nothing wrong with being a 'night owl'.

If you feel fine then no, you don't need one. But if you get tired during the day then go to bed earlier, simple as that. :)
