First answerer is silly.

You won't die or even get sick, though if you swallow a lot of it, it might make you a little nauseated. Our blood has a lot of salt water in it, so it's not going to kill you to gargle with it.

It also is known to help sore throats, because a) the hot water feels good, and b) the salt helps clear the mucous/crud out of your throat.

Also see your doctor. If it's strep throat, you will need antibiotics for it to go away.

Yes , it will help but don't make it too hot or too salty. But really if the pain is this bad, you need to see a doctor to rule out serious disease. Meanwhile gargle to keep the pain bearable.
