To reduce the chance of further episodes of tonsillitis, avoid contact with anyone with the infection as much as possible, do not share eating or drinking utensils and wash your hands frequently. It's usually a self-limiting condition, ie it gets better without treatment, and generally there are no complications.

Warm drinks, soft food and the use of throat lozenges and/or a mouthwash may ease swallowing problems. Your pharmacist can advise on the most appropriate over-the-counter remedies.
Drink plenty of fluids. Understandably a sore throat can discourage swallowing, but in tonsillitis it's common to lose a lot of body fluid through fever and mouth breathing. Dehydration adds considerably to feeling unwell.
It's important to ensure you have adequate rest and stay in a warm environment.

When we are ill our body fights against the infection with the help of antibodies. In this process of producing more antibodies our body heats up. More the temperature more is the production of antibodies. Substances like pyrogens cause fever.

If the water at home was the problem you wouldn't get the same reaction when outside (I presume you mean in the rain). Other people using the water would react as well.

Are you sure you are not using a product that irritates your skin? - scented shower stuff, soap. Try a simple soap or products used for babies.
If it's an allergy an antihistamine cream will help. Available from pharmacies.
Some product you are using could be a contributory cause as you wouldn't use it when you go swimming.
If you swim in salty water (like the sea), saline can be soothing. Try a handful of salt in your bath.

See your doctor if you are debilitated by tonsillitis - and for a definitive diagnosis for your prickly skin.
