Chiropractic treatment?!

Question: Chiropractic treatment?
My wife is been complaining of pain from her top of shoulder near neck to all the way right up to her finger tips in her right hand.
We did a MRI & have found narrowing of gaps in her C4-C5-C6-
Couple of my friends who had simillar problems have gone through Chiropractic & they are happy with the results.
But few Ortho whom we consulted , have told us not to go Chiropractic and tare totally against it.
We do not wantto take the surgery route.
I am bit confused- any suggestions- please reply only if you have had simillar problems / treatment

Chiropractors and orthopedist are like oil and water.. It is getting better as many reputable orthos are now referring to chiropractors..what did you think a surgeon was going to tell you?? Have surgery--that is what they are taught..

Chiropractic is very a conservative way to treat a condition. The decrease in disc spaces in your wife neck is the beginning of arthritis... What to do?.. If there was a fly in the room would you use a shot gut to kill it or a fly-swatter..my point being surgery is overkill at this point and should always be the last thing to do when there is no where else to go..up up..
The key here is to find a good chiropractor.. don't go to the doc down the block because its convenient. You wouldn't pick a brain surgeons that way!! Ask around friends and relatives and find a chiropractor who has a good reputation and has helped people... That is your best and most conservative route to deal with this problem. Good luck

It is unlikely that chiropractic treatment will cause harm - although it IS possible. Try it, if it helps, then continue...if not, then seel other alternatives.

To clarify Nitram's point....AMERICAN Osteopaths (D.O.s) practice traditional medicine in ADDITION to manipulative medicine...so finding an AMERICAN Osteopath who routinely does manioulations - you can have the best of BOTH "worlds".

I am an AMERICAN Osteopath

Well as chiropractors blithely recommend treatment for which there is not a jot of evidence I would stay well clear, same goes for the osteopaths.

Stick with real medicine, it's not unknown for the wrong thing to happen with the quacks and you'll end up paralyzed or even dead.

Chiropractic isn't science, and real doctors tend to use real science because it works, so far studies have shown that Chiropractic treatments amount to nothing more than a fancy massage. we know how to fix this, it may not sound pretty but it works.
