Homeopaths, is this true?!
Question: Homeopaths, is this true?
Answers:
It seems like the sort of people who fall for homeopathy in the first place are also the sort that are unlikely to leave even if presented with strong evidence against the things they have been told by 'homeopaths'. They would like to believe that they are a part of something, living "naturally", fighting "the man", etc. Accepting that they were wrong about homeopathy would be accepting that they have been ridiculously harming themselves or their children by taking water tablets instead of medication, and drinking shaken glasses of water instead of giving their children life-saving vaccinations.
If a doctor makes a mistake when prescribing you something, or what they prescribe just doesn't work out for you, you can both just say "okay, that wasn't right, why don't we try something else and fix this." But when someone is confronted with the truth that -all- of homeopathy is wrong for -all- conditions, they become defensive and angry at this because accepting that truth would mean accepting that they fell for a very big scam.
I guess once you cross the threshold of believing in the laws of similars (likes cure likes) though it is not consistent with physiology, and believing that the effect gets stronger when diluted and succussed even if nothing else in nature works that way, it is difficult to go back.
I have heard that, but it's impossible to predict the future. Maybe one day a quack will go back.
