How to soothe my four year old's sore throat?!

Menthol throat lozenges soothe a sore throat.

If she's complaining of a sore throat you should have her seen by an MD. She could have strep throat and if untreated she could get heart valve damage or kidney problems.

If you've already done that and she just has a cold and sinus drainage is the likely cause you can just keep her drinking warm liquids. It helps wash the drainage off of the sore area. Also, it's always going to be more sore in the morning than the rest of the day. Some children's tylenol may help as well.

A table spoon of honey might give her some relief as well. However, rest and time is about all that will really help.

Sage can be used externally to help with throat infections.

Also, black pepper can help with sore throats, as it can with many other things. Perhaps she could take some in a spoonful of honey?

You should also have her try to use rosemary as an antibacterial gargle, it helps with sore throats, too.

The first thing is to identify what is causing the sore throat. If it not a bacterium that is sensitive to salt then a salt gargle will do nothing. It can provide relief if it is salt sensitive although. Best bet is to call an MD. The next thing would be to consult a pharmacist of an over the counter remedy.

My grandmother use to drizzle honey over half a grapefruit for my sore throats as a child. It helped my throat and got me good nutrition at the same time.

Gargling warm salt water. It sounds crazy but it will provide some relief. It also won't cure it but as i said it will provide her with relief.
