considering acupuncture?!

Question: Considering acupuncture?
i have bad acne and people say that acupuncture can really help because it gets rid of the dampness in the spleen and will get rid of any toxins clogging it, what do you think?

Answers:

That's a load of nonsense. Nearly your entire body has a "dampness" to it and it needs to be this way in order to function. The idea that acne is cause by dampness of the spleen came about when humans knew nothing about the body or how it functions.

There aren't any "toxins" clogging you up, either. The word toxin is just alt med jargon, used to sell you detox products.

"Real" acupuncture doesn't perform better than "fake" acupuncture in high quality clinical trials. That means it's not proven to be anything more than a placebo.

Edit: Acupuncturists don't understand how it works. Saying that the body has meridians and chi is a nice little fairy tale, but neither have ever been proven to exist. The placebo effect works without them.

I know it's how you convince yourself of things, but repeatedly calling us "trolls" won't make it true.

Acupuncture is nonsense I'm afraid.

They spew out invented terms such as "dampness in the spleen" and "toxins" because it's designed to make you think they know what they're talking about. See how easily it confuses people like nosey?

See a doctor asap. You do NOT have to suffer with acne and remember: if acne is left alone and not treated, it can possibly scar you for life! Fake acupuncture treatment could delay proper treatment and cause this scarring. See a doctor for treatment that works.

I would get an evaluation from a certified practitioner/doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. What's causing acne in you is not necessarily what's causing it in someone else. Conventional medicine tends to brainwash us into thinking that you should "take this for that". We aren't all the same, and causes are not the same either.
Explanations in TCM don't have an equivalent in western allopathic medicine, so someone who hasn't studied it can't understand it.
Certainly not armchair trolls.
