I have a really bad sore throat what can I do to cure it?!

Question: I have a really bad sore throat what can I do to cure it?
My throat feel terrible, it hurts a lot just by swallowing. Is there a good medicine I can take that can help or anyother helpful tips to ease this pain?

Answers:

Licorice root will get rid of any sore throat. You can get it in tea or bark, make it into a tea let brew for 5 mins. drink up. Do this every 2 hrs you will immediatly feel a difference and even with the worst throat problems, it will completly go away in 36 hours. DO NOT take this advise if you are a Diabetic. Liccorice root is very sweet.

Take 2 Tylenol/Paracetamol every 4 hours. Get a hot cup of tea (or boiling water) to sip and breathe in the relaxing steam. You can take antiseptic/anesthetic lozenges but they just make me feel weird as well as having a (marginally less sore) sore throat. I found the best things were honey flavor 'Lockets' or a teaspoon of Manuka honey occasionally.

You can buy lozenges that have numbing medicine in them ... I think they go by the name "bradasol" where I live but I'm sure there are other brands that work just as well. In the mean time, teas help so do popsicles. Avoid milk products like ice cream as they make you produce mucous and it will make swallowing worse.

Seek out a medical professional first to rule out something like strep throat. If it's a symptom of a cold...lots of fluids, marshmallow or licorice tea, honey and lemon. Keep the liquids warm, and rest your voice. Feel Better!
