how effective is alcohol for extracting THC?!

Question: How effective is alcohol for extracting THC?
i have some 120 proof vodka and a half gram of of medium grade weed. i was wondering how much of the thc the vodka would extract and if i would need more than one gram of weed. and also how much alcohol i would need to use.

and yes i have my medical card and can do this legally.

Answers:

120 proof vodka = 60% alcohol

Try getting everclear (95% alcohol) or mckormicks lemon extract (83% alcohol) to intensify the potency if you can.

For a half gram of weed, you only need a half fluid ounce of your vodka.

You only will need 2-3 mL, and effects will last for about 5 hours. Thus you will have around 9-10 servings.

To ingest, put it under your tongue to absorb directly to your blood stream. If you drink it, it will go through the GI system and take longer for you to feel (similar to eating cannabis).

Enjoy!

p.s. because this is medium grade, you might want to try 4 mL. you probably already know this, but this will be stronger than smoking, but not as strong as eating brownies (because THC and other cannabinoids are more soluble in fat than alcohol). Also, I have never tried cannabis, and I am just giving advice my friend gave me, but I'm pretty sure he knows his stuff.

also, I would like to tell the guy who said "what a waste of weed" that this is much more efficient than smoking and vaporizing because smoking destroys a lot of the THC molecule, and vaporizing only is efficient in delivering 60-70% of the THC in cannabis.

It is moderately soluble in alcohol. (Ethanol in your case). It would be more soluble in hexane, but that's toxic and you probably don't have hexane in your kitchen cabinet. You could also extract it with a slab of bacon grease or whatever fat you like, but you would have a hard time purifying it from the fat versus alcohol.

Cheers...
