How long does it take to get over prescription painkiller withdrawals?!

Question: How long does it take to get over prescription painkiller withdrawals?
My bf gas been taking Loratabs, Tyloxs, and other prescription painkillers for years now (3-4 a day)... For about 4 days in a row, he was taking an excessive amount and made a complete fool of himself so last Sunday, I had him put in jail and I don't intend on bailing him out until he is over the withdrawals from this, so how long should I leave him there? Please Note: I already know that this is also a mental addiction and he'll probably get out and do the exact same thing (in which case we will be over)... So please, spare me the words of wisdom and just let me know how long the psyical withdrawals will last? Thanks

Congratulations on being strong abou this.

As for withdrawals, there are lots of factors involved - dosage, length of time using, and individual propensity for addition.

To give you an idea, I was using morphine and oxycontin for 3 months, and reduced the dosage down to 10 mg a day. When I stopped cold, even at that low a dosage, it took 5 days for the withdrawal symptoms to subside completely. I would think 2 weeks might do it, but a drug rehab centre might be able to give you a better idea.

Good luck!

for what you were taking it's like 4 days of withdraw symptoms there is something you can do to ease those w/d's look up the Thomas recipe it can really help with getting through the worst of it but for most 4 days if it was oxys or something harder it would be longer ..you can also visit a site called medhelp ,go to the addiction forum they can help there very munch

i quit painkillers myself

I agree 2 weeks
