Severe pain.

Dilaudid is the brand name for hydromorphone. It is an opioid (related to opium) which is used to manage severe pain. It is used in the terminally ill, or sometimes for severe acute pain. (They gave it to me in the hospital after my c-section. It is related to hydrocodone and oxycodone and on a milligram per milligram basis considered more potent than these.

it doesn't treat anything dear.. that's given to patients with terminal pain.
