I highly doubt the Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is a major issue and it sounds like he was taking the medication long before the current problems so they really don't have a link.

The best thing to do is listen to the medical professionals treating your son, they are the ones who have evaluated him and they have the expertise to determine what the problem is and how to correct it. It may take some time to figure everything out (or the problem may be resolved quickly) but it will almost certainly be resolved.

Also he is saying these things (I can understand how scary they are to hear) only when he is in trouble and upset. If it were happening all the time it would be a different situation. Kids with ADHD commonly act out, often for attention and/or due to ADHD and their behaviour problems. I can't say anything with certainty but they likely increased the dose because it is very likely the ADHD is a major cause of this. There are also some behaviour issues common with ADHD that you describe your son having that certainly does sound like uncontrolled ADHD. And 30 mg of Vyvanse is actually a modest dose, it is hardly anything extreme or significant.

I am not sure but that sounds like a high dosage. These types of medication should not be prescribed based on age but weight. My nephew was on Ritalin and they based dosage on his weight because he was a bigger kid. That made his dosage 30mg, when we started to see side effects we started to bring his dose down slowly. First to 20 then to 15. He is on 15 now and that is enough to get him through the school day. The nights are harder but a good routine and early bed time help him stay calmer. Even at his highest he was only on 40 mg of biphentin and that was because it weighed 95 pounds. I don't think increasing will help it will only make side effects worse. My nephew started on biphentin which wad amazing and worked soo well but the side effects started after 7 months and we had to switch him off it. He started getting ticks, rapid eye movements, sniffling and mood changes. We switched him to Ritalin and everything but mood changes went away then that faded slowly as we lowered his dosage. Good luck, this is not an easy sickness. Remember your not a bad parent, your kids not a bad kid. Kids with ADHD have been proven to have different brain function than other kids.

NEVER NEVER and NEVER. ADHD drugs do not work and are very dangerous.

6 Years old? wow. That's a humdinger. I guess the bottom line is how much does it help? Does it make a night-and-day difference? If so, then I guess I would....if not, then heck no.

if it helped them.

be wary of the people on the internet. they will say its horrible. but its not that bad

adhd for 15 years

If my trusted pediatrician told me it was the best choice I would try it. If it helped I would continue.

i have absolutly no idea what that is.
