Study supports that lower levels of vitamin D are associated with an increased risk for respiratory infections, such as the common cold and the flu. >>>http://www.fitness.edu.au/fitness-blogvi…
"University of Copenhagen have discovered that Vitamin D is crucial to activating our immune defenses and that without sufficient intake of the vitamin, the killer cells of the immune system -- T cells -- will not be able to react to and fight off serious infections in the body." >>> http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/201…
So vitamin D will help fight your cold. Recommended 5000IU a day. Your mother is right about a clean colon...there is a saying from the father of medicine - hippocrates - death lies in the bowels. The oldest man in America, who is 109 this year, lives by the saying - keep your colon clean...not that he uses laxatives however :) >>>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj7knA3-Y…

Is your mom French? They seem to have an unnatural obsession with Laxatives for colds and sore throats....
Nope, won't help a thing except cause bowel irritation (which is how they work) because your body will be busy causing inflammation in your bowels it won't have as many 'free resources' to fight the cold.
Tell her to keep the stuff away from you.
No, a laxative is a medicine for loosening your bowels (making you pee more). It doesn't help against a cold, it will only get you dehydrated...
hmmmm NOPE laxatives well not help you with colds. those are only meant to help you crap.
Absolutely not, a laxative will help you poop and that's it.
no a laxative wont help anything but your bowel functioning.
No, it will not. Zinc lozenges work well.
