Question: What can I take, in order to calm my nerves down?
What can I take, in order to calm my nerves down? Except spirits and drugs I mean. Strong herbs preffered, but not marijuana. Would list please?

kava...it's extremely effective and legal.

the next best is green tea, but kava is much more effective.


remember, prescription pills can be addictive, so try to avoid them if possible.

also, try breathing exercises (you find a ton on google). they are also effective.



For anxiety etc...
Chamomile tea-put 2 or 3 tea bags in the cup
Kava kava- over the counter herb capsules at any vitamin store
St John's wort- over the counter herb etc..

Doing a 1 hour yoga class twice a week really helped my stress-more than any food or herb ever did.
Also, some kind of aerobic execise every other day has helped me as well.

When your nerves are at their highest, try to chat or spend time with someone-anyone. Shoot the breeze and talk about whatever. Human interaction can calm you down and get your mind off of what is stressing you. Even if it's just 5 minutes of chit chat. It works for me.



Check out Valerian Root - lots of people use that to calm things down. And that stuff in pork and turkey can be bought in pill form - Tryptophan. Read about that on the Net - people use that to calm down.

Another thing for nerves is to make real sure that your electrolytes are in good shape - that's salt, magnesium, iodine, potassium. Make sure you're getting enough of this stuff. It can really help quiet things like a racing heart. Magnesium can be gotten from NOW Foods - Reverse Ratio 2:1 - (more magnesium than calcium). Potassium is cheapest when you get "No-Salt" from the store. You might try a good half a teaspoon of that a day for a bit - maybe more. Just put it in your hand and toss it down your throat and drink some water. And then make sure you get iodized salt - and put a little of that in your hand and throw it down your throat too. Generally we get a LOT of salt in our diets, so you probably don't need as much of that.

But these minerals might help.

If you're having anxiety, aspirin has a calming effect on a good percentage of people - take two of those every 4 hours. And wash your face in nice warm water and take your time. The human body is wired to become more calm when you put your face in warm water - not sure why.



Valium would work, it is a drug, but not a bad one if used correctly.
