Chemotherapy is not often used for kidney cancer.

Your father in law will know the name of the pill, which is probably one of the biological therapy drugs used for kidney cancer.

I see you are posting from the UK; there will be no cost to your father in law for this medication, however expensive it is. People receiving prescriptions for cancer treatments pay no charges.

Nobody can tell you how long he has to live; not even his doctors would do that as they know how unpredictable cancer is. Nobody reading your question knows anything about his individual cancer, including its stage.

I suggest you post your question in the Cancer section if you haven't already. In this section you are likely to receive answers from people who know nothing about cancer but have a pet theory about how it can be cured - teas, seeds, yoga, diet, vitamins etc - that they read about on the internet. One thing you can be 100% sure of is that none of those answerers will have successfully treated their own cancer in this way, or known anyone who has.

In the cancer section you are likely to receive answers from people with professional and personal experience.

Best wishes to your father in law.

EDIT: Taxol is a chemotherapy drug used for breast and some other cancers.

Are you talking about "Taxol"......this is a drug derived from the "Yew tree" a conifer from the United States great northwest region,...this is a controled substance which is made from the bark of this tree which is created from some kind of that bark's makeup....the collecting of the bark is highly regulated and controled and a person cannot possess it unless he or she is taking the wood for burning or making furniture in which case I wouldn't understand how the law would be applied...in any case, the drug "Taxol" is a product of that tree "YEW"..it's the newer of the latest natural cancer medicines that have been produced that I know of that are actually helpful ( I think )...I hope this is what you're refferring to.
