Better than bowls and joints.
It's not going to get you as ripped as a 3 ft bong but hey I have one in similar size and it hits like a champ. I think it more depends on the person using it and the potency of the product being smoked then the actual piece.
Its a nice starter piece if its your first piece and is definitely better for you then smoking blunts or joints as it filters through water.

in the future get glass, it has superior taste etc (for tobbaco of course)
