Hernia above belly button, is there an alternative to surgery?!

Question: Hernia above belly button, is there an alternative to surgery?
Hi I was sick with flu for three weeks and coughed way more than usual, I am going for ultrasound this week, but know that western medicine will say Surgery- Is there something natural I can do, I am overweight,by about 50 lbs, can a Chiropractor do an adjustment? With Many thanks, Jennifer

Answers:

Surgery is often the only and ultimate cure for hernia, but there are many people who are afraid of the pain that a surgery will cause. For them laparoscopic surgery which is a minimally invasive surgery can prove to be suitable. But there are alternative therapies for hernia like natural remedies which used in conjunction with medical care, will help to relieve the pain.

I agree with the doctor above, the hernia can strangulate and you can die. That is the risk you take for not going with the surgery to permanently fix it.

Losing those extra pounds will only benefit you in the long run.

Take care my friend and Merry Christmas!

A hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak spot in your groin muscle. This causes a bulge in the groin. You are more likely to get a hernia if you are overweight or you do a lot of lifting, coughing, or straining. Also, a woman may get a hernia while she is pregnant because of the pressure on her belly wall. Of course, your hernia will not heal on its own. It is said that Surgery is the only way to treat a hernia. However, if your hernia does not bother you, you most likely can wait to have surgery because eventually, it may get worse. In some cases, hernias that are small and painless may never need to be repaired.

Do what they did in years gone by - get a truss or a girdle and just physicaly hold the hernia in. There are no herbs or crystals that are going to magically fix this. If it strangulates and you choose NOT to get surgery - you will become septic and die....you choose.

I am a "western medicine" physician.
