yes it matters if they expired last year, it is possible that the chemicals and ingrediants denatured or fused with each other, however it might still work but you need to take anywhere from 15 to 20 your first time 20gels is only 300mg and bad effects (e.g. liver damage death) only start occuring after the 1200mg range. I suggest using 20 also as long as they do not contain acetaminophen you will be fine. Also it could take from 20min to an hour to feel the high depending on your age, tolerance, weight, and capacity of your stomach.
