Question: How do hemorrhoid suppositiories interact with high blood pressure medicine?
My mother is one high blood pressure medicine but needs to use some hemorrhoid suppositiories and she was reading that she should ask her dr. first before using if she take high blood pressure medicine. Her dr's office is closed so I was just wondering if anyone knows what the side effects are and if we should just wait til tomorrow when her dr's office will be open?

Many hemorrhoid suppositories contain vasoconstrictors - and they are absorbed into the entire system through the walls of the anus - vasoconstrictors and high blood meds can have nasty interactions. Look for a different OTC remedy, there are plenty of options that don't contain those drugs. Plain witch hazel pads should be in that section of the store, and plenty of people like them for relief.
call and/or ask a pharmacist. they have to know these things.
