Not just a scam but a really evil scam.

Its a scam. It falls under alternative medicine and there is no alternative medicine treatment for HIV/AIDS. Medical science is researching HIV/AIDS intensely; 'holistic' doctors are cranks with little or no medical training who can't offer you much more than placebos like chakra balancing, sending you magic healing energy (Reiki), water or sugar pills (homeopathy) or crude herbal drug concoctions that are untested for efficacy or safety. Alternative medicine is only alternative because it hasn't been proved to work, or it has been proved not to work.

The term 'holistic' should always be a scam red flag when you see it advertised; and anyone who says that proper doctors aren't interested in the 'whole person' are either deluded or frauds.

Do not go alternative for HIV/AIDS. Always seek sound evidence and scientific backing for any treatment. There are many unethical quacks out there who are only after your money.

If it tells you that HIV does not cause AIDS, it's a scam. If it tells you that all you need to stop getting the disease is to go on a special diet or take supplements or unproven herbs or weird devices, it's a scam. If it tells you to skip taking medicines for HIV/AIDs, it's a scam.

One of the users here is so deluded and actually believes in HIV denialism. I'm going to call her out on it one day.

Another scam? Adding to the collection of scams? Seriously there are a lot of people who say that natural heanth care is a scam and they don't know what they are talking about. There are legitimate professionals and scammers in every profession.

Someone with a serious condition like HIV/AIDS should maintain the supervision of a doctor whether or not they persue holistic therapy to have a way to track the progress or effectiveness of the therapies. Holistic therapy does not have to mean that you stop medical treatment.

Holistic therapy can include nutrition, meditation, Reiki, massage, accupuncture, chiropractic and exercise. All things that medical professionals agree are good to strengthen the immune system, reduce stress, nourish the body, improve circulation, strengthen the muscles, etc. Doctors know that these things are benificial but they are not educated in how to use them theraputically. They are educated in the use of drugs and surgery, that is what they know and what they are qualified to do.

There are other therapies like herbal medicine and homeopathy that can also be useful but do see trained professionals for whatever therapies you seek as this is a serious medical condition. Inform your doctor about all other therapies that you are taking. Do not allow your doctor to talk you out of trying other things unless there is a specific contraindication like an herb negatively reacting with a drug, but ask that they help you monitor your progress.

Most doctors who treat serious illness know better than to discourage people from seeking complimentary care because most have seen their patients benefit from some of these therapies. It may be a good idea to connect with a support group either in person or online and see what other people have tried and what successes they experienced.

Some of the sketics are so strangely invested in people trying options to see which ones actually help them. Some therapies wotk better for some people than others, just like medicine, some people get relief from medicine and others suffer terrible side effects, some people are cured and others die. One might as well try the resources available to them until they find one that works.

I had life threatening allergies, doctors said they incurable only manageable with drugs. The medicine the doctors gave me kept me alive. The side effects were awful and diminished my quality of life but they keps me alive long enough to try many alternative therapies until I found the one that worked for me.

What worked for me was Reiki. After 7 years of every kind of medical treatment, it took 6 months of weekly reaki sessions from another healer and getting trained to do reiki self healing daily for myself to wean myself, slowly and carefully off of the medications that the doctors told me I would have to take for the rest of my life. Even with those drugs I would still end up in anaphalactic shock in the emergency room about every 6 or 8 weeks with a reaction to stuff that is just in the air.

I still have allergies and once in a while I take an anti histimine but the Reiki healed me from a painful, life threatening condition to an occasional inconvenience. If I had listened to the skeptics, I would wither be dead by now or living a poor quality of life in and out of the emergency room and constantly medicated. There is a place for western medicine and alternative medicines. Use what is available, stick with what works fo ryou.

Should you take good care of yourself in terms of having a set bedtime, stress reduction, a balanced diet, fresh air and exercise - certainly. Absolutely.

But the fact is, is that many supplements will reduce the efficacy of the drugs used to treat HIV infection. By that reason alone I would never consider it.

Sure! Most holistic s are bunk, derived from people who think that they can cure diseases and maladies.
Run away from these charlatans.

Yes it's a scam. If it wasn't millionaires would never die of HIV or AIDS.

Holistic treatment of HIV has greater odds of benefiting a patient than toxic drugs and IV drug abuse which actually cause full blown AIDS.
See the film "House of Numbers" which exposes the effects of toxic AIDS drugs.
You've kinda got it backwards. It's allopathic medicine that's full of suppressive scam treatments.
Fortunately more people are doing their own research before blindly accepting conventional medical treatments that just make them worse and actually reduce life expectancy.

No, it is not a scam and anyone who says it is has serious personal issues to address. Reiki for instance has scientifically proven therapeutic benefits for patients most notably for depression, stress, anxiety and pain conditions (including the reduction of pain in cancer patients):

A randomized double-blind study of the effect of distant healing in a population with advanced AIDS. Report of a small scale study.

Autonomic nervous system changes during Reiki treatment: a preliminary study.

Problems begin when alternative medicine practitioners offer promises for a cure to patients which is ethically wrong and completely irresponsible. There are many people who have found holisitic therapies beneficial for their needs. It doesn't work for everyone and that's fine too. Stick to what works for you. Holistic therapies can complement hospital/medical treatment and as I have said before many times on this forum, we need to strike a healthy balance between the two (conventional/holistic treatment that has proven therapeutic benefits) so patients can receive the best possible care.

I wouldn't say its a scam, as even the whole "treatment" kind of thing is a scam. There's a cure out there, you just need to pay enough money to even think about getting it.
