childrens night time cold and cough liquid medicine still okay?!

Question: Childrens night time cold and cough liquid medicine still okay?
so i have a BAD. cough. and i dont swallow pills. and even if i did, we dont have any pills for it anyways. just that .and its been opend, and half way full.. and it says it expires 12/10... its not the end of the 12th month yet.. and it still looks fine.. same old thick and nasty... so would it still be okay for me to take? i thought so. so did my mom... so what do you think? thanks.

Answers:

You'll be fine. The expiration date is a very very conservative estimate by the pharmaceutical companies of how long the medicine will maintain100% potency. Most medications are still viable 2-4 years AFTER the expiration date.

You won't die or get sick from taking expired medication.
