How is Tramadol addictive?!

Question: How is Tramadol addictive?
I take Tramadol for period pain/back aches and while it does make the pain go away and make me feel happy/hyper, I can't imagine myself being addicted to it. I just don't see how it's addictive I guess. Like, do people get addicted to the "happy feeling" they get or something?

Answers:

it binds to the opiate receptors just like heroin, but weaker (comparable to codeine), making it both physically and mentally addicting. it also binds to the serotonin and norepinephrine receptors causing stimulation and euphoria (similar, but weaker than, amphetamines).

Rachel pills are life threatening... they don't kill you ( Unless you want to ) but they kill you inside... I have been addicted to oxycodone for 2 and 1/2 years now and am still trying to kick the habit.

It replaces your natural receptors in your brain the first time you use, so using once will cut your motivation for life in half immediately. Pills are horrid, opiates are worst then crack cocaine.

So while your on the drug your receptors are active and sufficient.
Then when you kick the drug your natural receptors are gone and take along a** time to come back.
So please Rachel if you feel unnattractive or hate the world, whatever you do, don't do what I did and resort to drugs as the fix.

Experience

It is addictive in that people can get dependent on it, and the withdrawal symptoms are so bad that they go back on it to avoid withdrawal. I have taken Tramadol in the past and every time I quit, I got such horrible restless legs syndrome that I could not sleep or sit comfortably. I have gone back on it now but am using the extended release version. I hope and pray that when I go off it, the withdrawals won't be as bad as when I was using the immediate release 50 mg.

It's basically used for pain relief. You can get addicted to it when you take it without any pain in the body or anything like that. I visited one website which has very good information about the Tramadol medication. You can try visiting that.

you'll understand when you have to stop using it if you use it everyday for more then two weeks. when you're coming off any serious medication, its not exactly what you want to feel, its what you don't want to feel if that makes sense.
