Does melatonin work as a natural sleep aid?!

Question: Does melatonin work as a natural sleep aid?
I’ve done some research and talked to a few colleagues and they mentioned melatonin can work as a sleep aid and assist in more sound sleep (REM) has anyone tried melatonin? Does it work? Any ill side effects? I hate taking otc sleep aids because of the horrible groggy feeling the next morning.. any other suggestions for better sleep?

Only through the placebo effect. Don't you think that if melatonin was really the magic "get the best sleep of your life" pill, it would be a lot more well-known and a lot better marketed?
Stop assuming that everything in life can be solved by taking a pill. That's the lazy way out, and often doesn't even work. Assess your lifestyle and make changes where they're necessary. Yes, it's hard because it requires actual effort, but it's the only way that will work.

Yes it works as a sleep aid. Actually, we all have melatonin that is naturally produced by our pineal glands.

More than a sleep aid, melatonin is also an antioxidant that imparts a variety of effects on the human body. Some of these include:

- alleviating fatigue
- help with certain neuro diseases
- may be helpful against certain cluser headaches

It works pretty well, but it can give you grogginess if you do too much or mix it with other things. Nothing near as bad as diphenhydramine, though.

Don't get the tablets, get the sublingual tincture. MUCH more effective.

My husband took melatonin pills for a little while. I have to say they did not work for him. Reading before bed makes me sleepy.Try a book or magazine.

Yes it works
