First RedAngel has a terrible source of information. Ironically it talks about mainstream medical journals finally publishing information yet most of the information cited is 20-60 years old and taken drastically out of context.

The sad yet absolute truth is that medication is a requirement to control bipolar. Therapy can help with some aspects but unlike conditions like anxiety or depression therapy can't control the problem alone. Therapy is typically best for coping skills, to help people understand and accept their diagnosis (very hard for some), and try to deal with some contributing factors to the bipolar.

Without medication people become manic or hypomanic again and/or have depressive episodes. In some cases it may take time, even a few years (rarely), before a major problem occurs but it will occur. Many people who stop their medications will become manic or depressed very quickly and end up in hospital under a mental health hold because of psychosis, depression, or suicide attempt.

If you are concerned about medications talk to your doctor and try to find the best treatments. If side effects are a problem then often lowering the dose or switching medication can greatly help.

Yes and in fact there are many published studies on reversing bipolar symptoms. "The latest psychiatry journals have finally published info about EFAs (essential fatty acids) and how patients taking those have relieved their symptoms of depression and Bipolar Disorder, and many of these patients have stopped using meds completely. So are these people still Bipolar?"...uhh no lol

Honestly no, not effectively anyway, because it is a chemical imbalance. You may try cognitive behavioral therapy and it could be helpful. However, bipolar episodes are unpredictable and symptoms may become too bothersome to manage with therapy alone. Good luck and remember mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, many suffer with bipolar disorder.

Some bipolars can be treat without, some cannot.

To say something 'GENERAL' about it,
is 'SCIENTIFIC' arrogance, sometimes ignorance is involved.

No. Therapy can help you learn about the disorder and help you to recognize when an episode is starting but it can not stop either depressive or manic episodes... Only meds actually treat Bipolar.

Intensive therapy and holistic medicine is always a viable option

therapy

see an hio method upper cervical specific chiropractor.i have seen people cease "needing" medication after upper cervical correction.( apropos is revving his mouth with brain in neutral again. he has no knowledge whatsoever of chiropractic, other than that it claims most all disease is from nerve interference, which is a fact.let him prove it doesn't. he cannot, of course. i have hundreds of people who, unlike apropos, have experienced it and the results which prove this fact. some people are just so ignorant and brainwashed that the truth offends their little medicated minds).
