Is it harmful to take sleeping pills because you wont go to bed?!

Question: Is it harmful to take sleeping pills because you wont go to bed?
I'm a night owl so I love to stay up late. But lately I haven't been getting in bed until 4 or 5A.M. I was thinking about taking sleeping pills to force myself to go to bed. Could this be harmful or could it help me to get to bed earlier?

Answers:

isnt that what sleeping pills are for??...if you dont want to take pills go to a grocery store and buy some tea especially made for sleeping and relaxing people. cutting off caffeine and drinking caffeine free relaxing tea helped me

had sleeping problems and bought tea

Dim the lights and don't listen to loud music an hour or so before going to bed and get the TV set out of your room. Don't dring caffeinated drinks other than in the mornining. Limit your sugar comsumption and avoid heavy eating before going to bed. There are natural alternatives to chemically produced pills like valeriana and passion flower, as well as melatonin. Try to alternate them taking a different one every day so they work better. You won't get addicted to them.

I find that a strong cup of herbal tea made of chamomile,rose-hip and valerian, helps me relax at bed time. I also put a drop of lavender oil on the edge of my pillow just before i go to sleep.
Serotonin (5HTP) is also helpful. I sometimes take a 50mg capsule of this in the evening with water to help me sleep.

Well you have 3 choices. Go to a doctor and have them prescribed, take a half of one or a whole but not another untill you have o go to bed again, or don't take them untill you know more.

Good luck :)

The night life can be bad for you especially in front of a bright pc screen

Im not sure of the physical hatm probably depends on amount and strength of the pill. But you could become dependent and eventually not b able to sleep without it

If it's becoming a problem, then yes take sleeping pills. They aren't particularly risky.
