Why does tea help sore throats?!

Question: Why does tea help sore throats?
I know from biology that a sore throat is typically caused by a virus. I read that tea helps to strengthen your immune system and take out bacteria. So why does tea help with a sore throat if it's caused by a virus?

Tea or pills cannot heal a virus. These things only help with undermining it's effects on the body and strengthen the immune system. Tea is a hot beverage and a natural bronchialdialator. As it is a caffeine beverage- it helps increase blood flow with caffeine being a natural bronchialdialator. Oxygen distribution in the lungs increases and helps your throat.

However, most sore throats are caused by post-nasal drip (doctor lingo for “snot sliding down your throat”). Drinking hot fluids not only hydrates your body, but it also helps keep post-nasal drip from building up and keeps the irritated linings of your throat coated with moisture.

I hope this is helpful.

Pain relief..
Hot drinks activate those pain receptors in the throat that are heat sensors. These send signals to the brain to release endorphins, that latter which are natural (endogenous) pain relievers. Any hot tea can help but a spicy hot tea (e.g. ginger) may work better. A little raw unpasteurised honey or Manuka honey in the tea may boost the analgesic effect. You can also gargle with a little chilli powder in warm water to have a similar effect, or hold and gargle a small amount of ginger juice at the back of the throat for a similar effect.

Peace.

Any warm beverage helps sore throats. Cold beverage constrict and warm beverages dialate area.
