What's the best thing to take for Nausea?!

Question: What's the best thing to take for Nausea?
I have Crohn's Disease and I don't know if I have caught a virus or what but I feel like I'm going to throw up every second. What can I take?

Answers:

Ginger or ginger-flavored things like ginger ale can help with nausea. Try inhaling and exhaling from both your mouth and your nose and see which combination works for you- sometimes, changing your breathing can change how "imminent" the urge to throw up feels. Also, if you can, distract yourself with ANYTHING: tv, book, computer. it helps.

A tablet or syrup of benadryl can also help, as benadryl is somewhat an anti-emetic. If you don't think you can keep a pill down, get the syrup kind and give yourself half a dose at a time, so if you puke it up, you can still take a bit more- up to about 75mg per 8 hours is safe. If you're actively vomiting, try to drink gatorade or pedialyte to remain hydrated and to keep appropriate levels of salt in your body.

If the nausea remains severe, or you're throwing up to the point of not being able to keep liquids in, see your doctor, as they can prescribe you highly effective medication to treat the nausea.

The best thing is peppermint tea, with organic lemon juice and a bit of local honey.

ginger
