Yes. If you suffer a major trauma you can't do better than going to a hospital emergency room. I doubt anyone would dispute that.
If you want to be healthy and avoid doctors then you have to be proactive, informed and look after yourself.
What conventional medicine provides is managed sick care. It's not health care.
I agree that it is a complete waste of the doctors time if you go to the hospital for some minor inconvenience of life. Since the doctor doesn't prescribe any medicine it is not costing you anything (assuming that you don't have to pay a consultation fee in your country). If you instead pay a visit to a practitioner of some kind of alt med you can be sure that he/she will prescribe something. So that would really be a complete waste of time and money.
For many people, going to the emergency room IS how they see a doctor, because a clinic isn't an option - so they go to the ER, don't pay the bill, and hospital writes it off, the US taxpayer pays that bill, and so it goes....
What I find ironic, is that people here don't realize that the poor already have taxpayer funded health care - - it's the not-so-poor who don't.
it usually is a waste of time and money for me if im sick i do what i can to get better without going to any kind of doctor because it takes forever and im allergic to most antibiotics anyway so i avoid it if possible but if i dont get better after like 4 days or i keep getting worse or i have a really high temp i try not to go
I do see it as necessary because when you are a your house and watching sports center and feel some pain in your side you do not say "Ah! darnit honey get the keys my liver is failing." No you have to have a doctor to tell you that.
I def agree, once I went to the hospital cuz I was having severe pain and was worried my appendix was bursting or something and didn't even get seen for like 6 hours no joke... I hate hospitals unless I'm missing an arm I'm never going again :P
Obviously. Most of the time you don't even need a doctor for a stomach ache, etc.
it's a form of russian roulette. many people have gone in for some minor problem and came out horizontal.
Absolutely not... they are there to help you but just a tip it won't be as expensive if you have health care.

In trauma medicine most doctors aren't bad. For treating diseases, they pretty much stink.
