Best option is usually steroid nasal sprays they are both effective, low in side effects and do not cause rebound congestion.
GP for more years than I care to remember
Hi Sean
I had a similar problem and here is what I did.
The first thing I did was to get a nasal irrigation bottle. This is similar to the netti pot but allows nasal irrigation under slight pressure whereas the netti pot relies on gravity and is therefore on effective on clear nasal passages.
The nasal irrigation system I have is from NealMed and can be purchased at most pharmacies or drug stores. More information can be found at http://www.neilmed.com
Another thing I did was to start taking Nopalea juice which is an extract of the prickly pear cactus which contains a powerful anti-inflammatory. Unlike the pineapple juice, the Nopalea will not cause gastric upset.

I hope this helps you with your problem.

Lawrie
Personal experience
Get a neti pot to flush your sinuses with saline solution. The salt helps to heal the irritation in a moist environment. Also, if you have a runny nose...blow instead of sniffing it up.
Previous experience with a year long sinus infection.
You can buy crystals of pure menthol. Dissolve a small amount in very hot water and inhale the steam with a towel over your head to keep the steam from escaping
