Using fibre supplements?!

Question: Using fibre supplements?
I'm only fourteen and I get constipated a lot. I exercise a lot and have a good diet and drink lots of water already. I bought fibre supplements when I was shopping the other day but I read the back and it said not intended for use for persons under the age of 18. I know I'm only 14 but these pills could be the only thing that will work and I want to try them. Is it safe to do so? It says the product is so gentle it can be taken everyday so I don't see it harming me? What do you think?
Thanks.

You can get fiber from many sources, like cereal, fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat apples for the pectin, which is fibrous. Nutritionists tell us to shop the outside walls of the store, because that is where the natural foods are stored.

Refined, boxed sweet/flour foods have the capacity to be part of the problem of poor bowel movement.

If you are not getting enough magnesium in your diet this may also be part of your problem. Calcium helps with muscle contractions, but don't over do the dose.

There is a huge amount of information on the net in this area, that you should find helpful.

My personal advice would be lay off the sweets as they contribute to constipation.

The age thing is a type of legal disclaimer they have to throw on there. Check out the number of grams of fibre per serving and limit it to 5 grams a day for at least a week to get used to the extra fibre or you can just make things worse. Increase the dose gradually. Drink lots of water and don't take it with other supplements because it will interfere with their absorption.
The all around best supplement for constipation are probiotics. Read the label and make sure it gives you a 15 billion cell dose per serving. Yogurt only contains trace amounts of probiotics.
Antibiotic use tends to cause constipation because it destroys your own good gut flora.

Ok. Lay it on me - why is it YOU think it isn't going to solve the problem - because fiber IS a laxative.
