Have any home remedies for the Flu?!

Question: Have any home remedies for the Flu?
I have had the flu now for a few days. I know it's easy to go to the doctor and take some medicine and feel better eventually, but I don't want to resort to a pill or liquid to make it go away. I also haven't had a flu shot since I was 5 or so and this is only the second time I've had it since. I was just curious since I know a lot of people get the flu this time of year if any of you had special home remedies you've used to help combat the symptoms.

Please don't give me posts about the value of a flu shot or how it is better to see a doctor. I'm in no health danger, and I know when to say I can't handle it. If your remedy doesn't fix the flu, post it anyway because I want suggestions for symptoms - ie. what have you used for fever, body aches, restlessness, etc that isn't found in a medicine bottle.

Thanks!!

first of all you better determine if 'the flu' is what you have.
if your symptoms are from the neck up, its a cold, which is a virus which there is no medication to cure, OTC, alternative or from the doctor, only to ease symptoms.
If your symptoms are neck down, it is influenza and is a virus and there is no medication to cure,OTC, alternative or from the doctor, only to lessen the symptoms.
Home remedies?
Take some aspirin, lots of fluids, chicken soup, rest, stay in bed. orange juice.
Make sure your room is moist to ease that dry sore throat or dry hacking cough.
If you are congested you can heat a kettle of water to steaming, sit with you head comfortably over the kettle. Throw a towel over your head to concentrate the steam and breath deeply for about 20 minutes every couple of hours.
Gargle with salt water 3-4 times a day for sore throat.

There is nothing much a doctor can do anyway - unless you get a secondary infection and need antibiotics. Keep your fluids up, try cold and flu medication from a pharmacy to mangage the symptons. Other than that, there is little that can be done. Vitamin supps don't do anything. And get your flu shot, it not only protects you, but every one around you too, especailly those who can't be vaccinated.

Homeocoksinum from the health food store shortens the duration of the flu by about 50%.
Vitamin D3 at around 5000iu a day will prevent both colds and flu.
Don't take aspirin or any other drug to reduce a mild fever as it tends to make your symptoms hang on longer.Fever is your body's way of burning off a virus. It doesn't make any sense to suppress your body's own immune response.

This may sound silly but I think the reason I never get sick is because I drink fresh orange juice every day. I also take calcium. You could warm up some water and add some salt, use a heating blanket, and just drink lots of water to flush the germs out of your system and sleep. Hot green tea. And you are right NOT to get a flu shot.
