do you need a swab taken to find out if a hip replacement is suitable?!

Question: Do you need a swab taken to find out if a hip replacement is suitable?
Answers:

If you mean a biopsy, no you don't as the implant is synthetic and biologically neutral.

GP for more years than I care to remember

Swab??
I've had both hips replaced and don't recall having anything like a "swab" taken.
And also don't know what you mean when you say "suitable". Do you mean the fit? or the prosthesis material? Or infection" Or what?

Not sure where you are coming from, but they do swab to see that you are not carrying MRSI before admission.

Swab? I had Xrays, and a MRI.
