Nicotine isn't hard to get off, it's the 7000 chemicals they add to keep you addicted and buying. I quit smoking by continuing to smoke. I started buying additive-free,pure tobacco I used "Three castles" tobacco. It comes in a tin can, and I rolled them myself. I then would smoke two of them before smoking one of my regular cigs. This helped me get off the additives. After a while I found the others tasted better and richer, which stopped me from inhaling (no taste buds in lungs). Then I noticed the rich mouth flavor satisfied me, and found myself smoking less. I reached the point where I hated the flavor of my old ones. Toward the end I was only smoking three a day. I would smoke one a while and when I laid it down, it went out. I'd relight it later and it still tasted good. If I had continued three of these a day, I'd felt ok by smoking: but I eventually stopped smoking altogether. It's like pipe smoking, you don't inhale because the mouth flavor itself was satisfying; but pipe tobacco also has the chemicals too; but Three Castles doesn't. They now make additive-free cigs. Winstons and others make them; But I could only find them at a tobacco shop. I think the filters keep you from getting the full flavor you need, so I'd break them off. Since I quit, I've found myself extremely allergic to regular cig smoke. I guess it all means that nicotine isn't that hard to quit, even tho most treatments focus on the nicotine. In any case it worked for me. Good luck!

Smoking dries out your passages or the phlegm or something. I have noticed that too sometimes. Tell you what though, It's easiest to give up smoking when you are sick because you already feel like poop, so you aren't going to notice the withdrawals or the irritability as much, and you sleep a lot. I've quit a few times through the years. It really is easier then.

Happy New Year. I really hope it is happy for you.

Perhaps the only time you breathe deeply is when you're smoking. That's true for many smokers. Breathing deeply can help ease coughing.

If you want to quit, learning to breathe deeply when you're not smoking would be very helpful. The healthy way to breathe is by inhaling all the way down to the lower belly, like an infant breathes. Most of us don't do that anymore by the time we're adults... except for smokers, who inhale more deeply when smoking.

Any benefits to smoking are all in your head.

Quit. Use any method possible. Go cold turkey. Use the patch. Use gum. Whatever works. Do it now. Don't wait.

Smoking WILL kill you. I've personally watched too many die already. It is a gruesome way to do.

Do try to quit even if you have failed in the past.

I quit six years ago & it was very difficult and depressing however the health benefits & $$ saved make it well worth it. I used the nicotine gum and still keep some on hand.
