Smoking can cause cancer and heart diseases. But sometimes people can't really think that far into the future to worry about an illness they might not get for many years like:
yellow teeth.
smelly clothes.
more colds and coughs.
difficulty keeping up with friends when playing sports.
empty wallet ,because cigarettes products are very expensive!
The nicotine and other poisonous chemicals in tobacco cause lots of diseases, like heart problems and some kinds of cancer.
So if your brother smokes, he hurts his lungs and heart each time he lights up. It also can make it more difficult for blood to move around in the body, so he may feel tired and cranky ,and the longer he smokes, the worse the damage becomes.
the disadvantages of smoking are more than what I wrote.
However ,think this is enough.

1) you die,
2) you get lung cancer,
3) you die,
4) you get heart cancer,
5) you die,
6) you smell of cigarettes,
7)you die painfully and slowly,
8) nobody likes you,
9) you DIE
10) 100% of people who smoke die, (<---well obviously)

Interesting facts about smoking FROM a former smoker:

Note: most of these apply to both plain tobacco and cigarettes. Cigarettes are much worse for the body, so some of these facts could apply more to tobacco in general than just cigarettes.

1: Smoking tobacco causes the body's stores of zinc to deplete, which is why it dulls taste, smell, and sight.

2: Tobacco smoke only discolors teeth when the user brushes or cleans his teeth once or more daily. Furthermore, in healthy individuals, tobacco smoke stains on the teeth fade naturally after some weeks of smoking cessation.

3: The buzz a smoker receives from tobacco is both stimulating and numbing, but by every month the effects tend to diminish, causing the smoker to desire a heavier dose to get the same effect as he once did.

4: Indigenous smokers -- like shamanic natives of the Amazon who grow their own tobacco -- exhibit no negative health effects from using tobacco, even when their tobacco is a type that is many times stronger. The reason for this is "unknown," even though it should be obvious.

5: The Amazon Rain Forest's natives use tobacco in their shamanic and spiritual healing/medicine, and they're often called "tobaqueros" or "tabaqueros." (Note: those two words are plural.)

6: Cigarette paper is made using more ingredients than any other part of the cigarette, and it's been recognized as the most dangerous part of cigarette smoking. Cigarette paper is responsible for nearly half of the so-called "poisonous tobacco carcinogens."

7: (Not about tobacco:) Smoking has been part of spirituality since the earliest known times of human history.

8: 99% of all people who blame "smoking" for their problems are smoking chemical-laden cigarettes in quantities exceeding reason. These smokers also eat nothing but unhealthy foods all day, get little to no exercise, drink very little (if any) water, consume a high amount of stimulants like caffeine, get poor sleep, dwell on negative thoughts, live in unhealthy locations and conditions, take medical drugs, get unneeded shots that contain mercury and formaldehyde, breath in dirty air, etc -- and yet, when these people are used as bad examples by medical "authorities," people blame their smoking habit, and not their general unhealthiness or insanity.

9: 50% of the supposed carcinogens found in cigarette smoke are also found in fresh American-grown produce.

10: Contrary to made-up information, America's tobacco smokers turn out many fewer dementia cases than the general non-smoking populace. Tobacco has also been suggested as an effective treatment for many mental disorders -- and it works well as a laxative for moderate to severe constipation.

Hope this helped.
