To be honest, it all depends on you; if you don't pay attention in class nor study, the training will be difficult, but if you pay attention, keep up with all studying and ask for help when you need it, the training will be a breeze. Don't be afraid to ask questions, instructors love it when EMT students ask questions because it means that the students are paying attention and want to learn. During the average class, you basically learn about human anatomy, CPR, first aid, advanced first aid, patient assessment, patient treatment, gurney use, splinting, C-spine, etc. Good luck!

Myself, I went through EMT-B training

I've taken it, and it was like a very lengthy first aid class. We had frequent tests, in preparation for the major exam, and learned a lot of anatomy and medical terms. We also did lots of skills practice, everything from taking a pulse to splinting a limb to dealing with seizures to keeping someone's head still while working on them (you have to do the last if there's any possibility of a spinal injury).

Everybody also had to do 16 hours of ambulance ride along, late in the semester. That meant two days of assisting the ambulance crew, going out with the ambulance if it went out and helping in the ER. Since I took the class in a small town, with one not very busy hospital, it was pretty quiet. There was one major emergency on one of my shifts--a woman collapsed and turned out to have a brain aneurysm. A classmate of mine got involved in a major rescue on his shift, of a guy who fell in the river and got swept over a waterfall--and lived.

Overall, I'd say it's a rigorous class, but not necessarily difficult. Whether you'd find it difficult depends on what's difficult for you.

Yes it will be rigorous and difficult. You have people's lives at stake and you must expect it to be surely.
