Depends on your state. It automatically qualifies you for Medicare after a 2 year wait. It automatically qualifies you for Medicaid immediately, but there may be a spend down, co-pay pr deductible depending on income and assets. Some states exempt you from property taxes.

Down side is if that is your only source of income, and you have limited assets, it becomes almost impossible to get a loan, or new credit. Lenders cannot garnish government benefits, so they will rarely lend unless there is collateral or other income.

There is none. You can apply for social security that's about it. If you make a certain amount those benefits will be reduced or lost. So it basically leaves you making the same amount of money that the social would be sending you. Oh handicapped parking spaces.
