Memory foods/nutritional supplement?!

Question: Memory foods/nutritional supplement?
I'm looking for some foods/nutritional supplement that can help me improve my memory as far as school is related. Not like blueberries or banana's or anything, but something more potent. Any suggestions? I'm desperate.

You might want to read up on the brahmi herb. In India, tea from brahmi is typically given to students before exams to enhance memory and alertness.

Fish oil (omega 3)....you should take this for general health and well being and it may improve your concentration and memory as studies suggest. Memory herbs include such as sage, rosemary, thyme, basil and oregano (of the mint family), and other herbs such as ginkgo biloba and gotu kola.

You can buy dried herbs for cooking cheaply so you could chew a little rosemary or sage for instance throughout the day and you may get some benefit from that. They are said to inhibit the enzyme cholinesterase, the latter which breaks down the key memory neurotransmitter acetylcholine. They are also full of antioxidants which will help counteract stress, plus they keep the gums healthy and freshen the breath as a bonus.

If you are particularly stressed and that is taking its toll on your health as well as having problems with memory you could give the herb gotu kola a try. This is a known adaptogen. It should help where stress is the cause of any problems related to study. You should be able to find that in any major health store. However, and this is important, if you are on any prescribed medications or have any medical condition, talk to your doctor or pharmacist first before taking any herbal supplements.

Also make sure you get enough vitamins C and vitamin E. Eat healthily and get 8 hours sleep a night. Get to bed early as it will help optimise your melatonin and human growth hormone levels and that will improve your health and well-being including memory and concentration.

Best wishes.
