Whats wrong with my REM sleep?!

Question: Whats wrong with my REM sleep?
Last summer I had a month and a half of waking up at 4 am, only to fall asleep ten to fifteen minutes before my alarm went off...It eventually stopped and I was able to regain my normal sleeping patterns...
It felt like to me, that I would go to sleep (anytime between 8-10) and finally hit my REM sleep, have a crazy dream (always different, not very memorable or particular) and then I would be kicked out of my REM pattern...unable to go back to sleep...
For some reason, at four o'clock I would wake up, and be unable to regain my deep sleep...

Only now, its happening again...I am under stress, but not an unbearable amount..I do suffer from depression...could that be whats causing it?
I'm not sure, but its tiring...

Any ideas?

Answers:

It's interesting to see different perceptions.
I find it interesting that when I wake up like that I can focus really well so I meditate and go into deep states.
Sometimes I wake at 2:22, 3:33, 4:44 and 5:55. I think my Guides are messing with me.
Dream cycles are continuous through the night. Dreams are downloaded, so to speak, just before waking. They usually are a clue to your thoughts.
Exercise, eating well and fifteen minutes of meditation can help a lot.

seems to me that u needed sleep so much ur brain just went straight to rem sleep ignoring all the other stages. the crazy dreams could be a result from your REM. stress is my guess
