Does insurance cover alternative medicine?!

Question: Does insurance cover alternative medicine?
I hear different stories

Answers:

It's up to the individual insurance company, and their policy coverage areas are outlined in the literature they send the client.
Patients should bombard their insurance carriers with requests for broader coverage and fight to get them included. People have a right to choose what form(s) of medicine they want. The current medical industry monopoly of drug companies and testing facilities doesn't have to be allowed to dictate what's covered and what isn't. This is a financial and political issue. Over 50% of people use forms of medicine that don't involve drugs and surgery.

Because alternative medicine is worthless and doesn't work insurance companies usually don't pay for it. That's way the chiropractor who answered already has a constantly decreasing number of acceptable insurance companies. Chiropractic is even one of the most reasonable alternatives and yet even they are having problems with how many people understand science these days. If you want to waste money on alt med you're going to have to waste your own and not some company's money.

As a Chiropractor, I was able to take various insurance companies when I began practice. Now I am down to two. I am sure it is this way or if not worse with other Alternative Medicine. It is sad you just have to call around and see who takes what.

I have to turn many people away in the practice I work in and some pay cash.

personal experience

It is not only alternative but I lost my dental and vision at work. Then I found out my family doctor is no longer taking Aetna which is my insurance. So I have to buy private dental and vision and hope it works and find a new doctor.

Isn't your husband a surgeon? Why not ask him?

Because he's not is he? Jennifer/Irish Girl are the same person and you're just spamming the forum to promote your own business.

Reported.

It all depends what kind of policy you have. I have a friend that works for Career Builder and they sent him to stop smoking classes and some people get weight surgery. They are into promoting wellness.

ummm....what business is being promoted? I don't see any names here...please!
Bells is right because I have talked to so many civilians that are losing benefits, having higher deductibles, and co-pays.
