Plenty of cool water for about 10mins, not iced water or very cold water because that can cause hypothermia. If the burn is bigger than the palm of your hand then seek medical attention straight away. If it is bigger than two hands then call an ambulance especially if it involves the face / head. Cover the burn once cooled with cling film as it will not adhere, is essentially sterile and allows doctors to see the burn whilst still protecting the area and reducing pain for the patient. Do not put on butter or grease and do not cover with towels or anything that will adhere or cause lint to stick to the burn, do not burst blisters
