Mineral oil is made from petroleum and it actually robs your skin of moisture. So people glob more on to "moisturize" and end up with drier and drier skin. It's a vicious cycle. DON'T buy cosmetic products with mineral oil in them. They're harmful to your skin and a big rip off dirt cheap filler ingredient.
Good natural oils are emu oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc.

Well, you can nickle and dime argue this one to death, really. All depends on who you ask. Some people will scream 'No way' and yet surprisingly some of the most respected natural skincare companies use it (Dr. Hauschka, for example)

I wouldn't throw a tantrum if I bought a product with it, but I am mindful that it's a cheap substitute for a more expensive plant oil such as olive.

A mineral oil or liquid petroleum is a liquid by-product of the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline and other petroleum based products from crude oil. Since it is a by-product this explains your question. It is not natural? And it should not be used in cosmetics specially if it is not food grade.

No it is unnatural. It is a by-product of the petroleum industry.

Mineral oil ...if absorbed into the bloodstream ...robs the body of valuable fat soluble vitamins.....i.e. vitamins A, D, E & K [ ref: http://www.merckmanuals.com/home/sec12/c… … ..... scientific manual used by the medical community....including GPs!]. And mineral oil can penetrate the stratum corneum....i.e. the outermost layer of the epidermis...[ ref: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18164… ] Ironically, this study was conducted by Johnson and Johnson.... the makers of mineral oil for babies....aka baby oil!! This study showed that mineral oil was no different to vegetable oils (of those veg oils tested....and specifics not provided in the abstract) in its ability to penetrate the stratum corneum

Use a natural oil or a blend of natural oils instead.

Peace.

Is mineral oil natural?

Of course it is. Mineral oil is a part of crude oil and crude oil is made of ancient sea organisms that have been broken down and compressed underground for millions of years.

This is a basic part of school class, so now you know!

Well, it is a byproduct of petroleum....which is natural. It's just oil. There is no particular benefit to using plant or animal derived or other "natural" oils.

Dont listen to dave. You would not put crude oil on your skin would you dave so dont be ridicolous.

no
